Amsonia Blue Star

Amsonia Blue Star is a hardy perennial valued for its delicate star-shaped blue flowers, refined foliage, and attractive presence in Canadian gardens. Also known simply as Amsonia, this versatile perennial brings soft blue colour to flower beds, borders, pollinator gardens, and naturalistic landscapes. Our collection includes distinctive species and cultivars such as Amsonia hubrichtii, Amsonia tabernaemontana, Amsonia ‘Blue Ice’, and Amsonia ‘Storm Cloud’, offering different foliage textures, growth habits, and ornamental effects. The fine or broader green foliage provides texture alongside other perennials and ornamental grasses, while the characteristic blue blooms create an elegant display. Amsonia plants work especially well in mixed perennial beds, mass plantings, and landscape designs where long-lasting structure and seasonal interest are desired. Their understated colour also pairs beautifully with echinacea, rudbeckia, asters, and grasses.
