Bright Lights Swiss Chard: A Burst of Garden Color

Bright Lights Swiss Chard (Beta vulgaris subsp. cicla), offered by OSC Seeds

A winner of the AAS award, Bright Lights Swiss Chard is known for its vibrant stalks in yellow, gold, orange, pink, purple, and green, beautifully contrasted by its dark green, slightly crinkled leaves. Milder in flavor than standard chard, this versatile variety is as decorative as it is delicious, often used as an ornamental plant in flower gardens. It grows to a height of 60 to 80 cm and is perfect for both vegetable and landscape gardens.

Spread: Final spacing of 10 cm after thinning
Plant height: 60 to 80 cm
Packet size: Approximately 100 seeds
Companion plants: Carrots, onions, lettuce
Incompatible plants: Spinach, potatoes

How to Grow:

Sow seeds 1–2 cm deep and 2.5 cm apart in rows spaced 45 cm apart starting in mid-spring. For continuous harvests, sow every two weeks until early summer. Thin seedlings to a final spacing of 10 cm, using the thinned plants as baby greens. Harvest outer leaves by cutting at the base of the stem to encourage new growth from the center. Germination occurs in approximately 10 days.

Bright Lights Swiss Chard is ideal for adding vibrant color to your garden while providing flavorful, abundant harvests throughout the growing season.
