The 'Long Red Cayenne' pepper is a must-have for fans of spicy food. This heirloom variety produces slender, slightly curved fruits, about 5 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Cultivation method:
Sow indoors between mid-February and late March, using a soilless mix. Plant seeds 6mm deep and maintain a constant temperature of 21°C to encourage successful germination in 10-20 days. Transplant hardened-off plants in late May to early June into a full sun location with rich, well-drained soil. Space plants 30cm apart, with 60cm between rows. Water regularly and use a stake if necessary. Fruit can be harvested green for a mild flavour or red for a stronger taste.
