This squash prefers rich, loose, well-drained soil with full sun exposure. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture and mulch around the plants to reduce evaporation and limit weeds. Combine it with companion plants such as corn or beans for a harmonious garden and avoid enemy plants such as tomatoes or cabbage.
Harvest when the fruit is a uniform beige color and the skin is hard to the touch. Store in a cool, dry place to prolong freshness. Versatile and flavorful, 'Butterkin F1' squash will add a sweet, creamy touch to soups, pies, and fall dishes.
