Tigridia

Tigridia are striking summer flowers known for their large, cup-shaped blooms and distinctive spotted centres that create an exotic look in garden displays. Often called tiger flowers or Mexican shell flowers, these colourful plants produce vibrant blossoms in shades of red, pink, orange, yellow, and white. Tigridia pavonia is among the best-known varieties and makes an eye-catching addition to flower beds, borders, rock gardens, and outdoor containers across Canada. The dramatic markings near the centre of each bloom give Tigridia flowers their characteristic tiger-like appearance, making them an excellent choice for gardeners seeking unusual summer colour. Planted in groups or combined with other flowering bulbs and ornamental plants, they can create bold seasonal displays in residential gardens and professional landscaping projects. Tigridia bulbs are also a compelling option for gardeners who enjoy distinctive plants beyond traditional summer flowers.
