Acer palmatum var. dissectum 'Tamukeyama'
Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Tamukeyama’, known as the 'Tamukeyama' laceleaf Japanese maple, is an old and very reliable variety, recognized for its deeply cut dark red foliage and its particularly elegant cascading weeping habit. From spring, its young leaves emerge a vivid purplish-red, turning dark burgundy in summer, then bright red in autumn, maintaining beautiful color intensity even in full sun. Its drooping, wide, and supple dome-shaped habit creates a naturally sculptural form, perfect for Japanese gardens, rock gardens, pond edges, or as a specimen plant. With slow to moderate growth, ‘Tamukeyama’ reaches about 2 to 2.5 m (6.5 to 8 ft) in height and 3 to 3.5 m (10 to 11.5 ft) in width, with good resistance to heat and climatic variations. Hardy in zone 5, it prefers cool, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, and a sunny, non-scorching or partial shade exposure.
