Organic 'Heart of Gold' cantaloupe (Cucumis melo), offered by the seed company Aimers

This heirloom variety produces round fruits with a finely reticulated skin, containing intensely sweet, deep orange flesh. The texture is tender and juicy, with a relatively small seed cavity that maximizes the edible flesh. Renowned for over a century for its exceptional flavor, this cantaloupe is an excellent choice for fresh consumption during the summer months.

Propagation: Indoor sowing or direct sowing in late spring
Plant height: 200 to 300 cm
Package size: Approximately 50 seeds
Harvest time: Approximately 80 days
Frost tolerance: Killed by frost
Companion plants: Corn, beans, nasturtiums
Incompatible plants: Potatoes

Planting and maintenance:
Sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed up, or start the seeds indoors up to three weeks before transplanting. Plant in full sun, in rich, warm, well-drained soil, using biodegradable pots to avoid disturbing the roots. Water regularly throughout the growing season and fertilize lightly after planting. Harvest when the fruit easily detaches from the stem and gives off a characteristic sweet aroma.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock. These product pages are designed to help and inspire gardeners in choosing the right seeds for vegetable gardens, flower beds, pollinator gardens, container growing, naturalization projects and sustainable outdoor spaces.
