'Chantenay red heart' carrot on organic ribbon (Daucus carota), offered by the seed company Aimers
This heirloom variety produces short, stocky roots with a bright orange color and red heart, boasting dense, meaty flesh. The medium-green foliage forms a robust clump, while the root offers a sweet and juicy flavor, ideal for both fresh eating and storage. Highly reliable, it adapts well to heavier soils and ensures consistent, abundant harvests.
Propagation: Direct sowing using seed tape
Plant height: 30 to 40 cm
Package size: 2-meter seed tape, approximately 100 seeds
Harvest time: Approximately 65 days
Frost tolerance: Frost resistant
Companion plants: Onions, leeks, lettuce

Planting and maintenance:
Place the seed tape directly in the ground as soon as the soil can be worked, in full sun, then cover it with a thin layer of loose soil. Maintain consistent moisture during germination to ensure even emergence. The tape provides good spacing, but light thinning can be done to achieve about 5 cm between plants. Water regularly, weed as needed, and avoid fertilizers high in nitrogen. Harvest when the roots have reached a good color and size.
