Siberian kale on organic ribbon
Siberian kale on organic ribbon (Brassica napus var. pabularia), offered by the seed company Aimers
This variety of kale produces spreading, non-heading plants with dense, decorative, tightly curled, blue-green leaves. Its texture is tender, and its flavor mellows considerably in cooler weather, making it an excellent late-season vegetable. Highly ornamental and nutritious, it is valued both in the garden and in the kitchen.
Propagation: Direct sowing using seed tape
Plant height: 30 to 40 cm
Package size: 2-meter seed tape
Harvest time: Approximately 70 days
Frost tolerance: Frost resistant
Companion plants: Beets, lettuce, onions
Incompatible plants: Other brassicas planted too close together
Planting and maintenance:
Place the seed tape directly in the ground in mid-spring, once the soil has warmed up, in full sun. Cover lightly with loose soil and maintain consistent moisture during germination. The tape ensures even spacing without the need for thinning. Harvest the leaves as needed from the outside of the plant; the first frosts improve the flavor and extend the harvest period.
