Organic 'Buttercup' squash (Cucurbita pepo), offered by the seed company Aimers

This heirloom variety produces medium-sized, round fruits with dark green skin marked by fine grayish streaks and a characteristic cupule at the floral tip. The bright orange flesh is thick, sweet, and fiber-free, offering an excellent texture after cooking. Highly reliable and productive, this winter squash is particularly prized for its long storage life.

Propagation: Direct sowing in late spring or indoor sowing
Plant height: 200 to 300 cm
Package size: Approximately 20 seeds
Harvest time: Approximately 90 days
Frost tolerance: Killed by frost
Companion plants: Corn, beans, nasturtiums
Incompatible plants: Potatoes

Planting and maintenance:
Sow directly outdoors from late May to mid-June, about 2.5 cm deep, in full sun, in deep, rich, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Plant in mounds spaced about 2 m apart and thin to three plants per location after germination. Water regularly without waterlogging the soil and protect the fruit from direct contact with moisture. Harvest when fully ripe before the first frost to ensure good storage.
