Berberis thunbergii 'Golden Nugget', or Japanese barberry 'Golden Nugget', is a very compact dwarf shrub, remarkable for its bright golden-yellow foliage, which is more intense and stable than that of many other golden varieties. Its naturally globular and dense habit allows it to maintain a neat shape without pruning, making it ideal for low borders, rockeries, structured flowerbeds, or container planting. In spring, small pale yellow flowers appear discreetly, followed later in the season by decorative red berries, adding interesting contrast.
