Plant seeds 1 inch deep and space them 3 to 4 inches apart in rows 18 to 24 inches apart. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially when flowers appear and pods begin to form. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers to prevent excess foliage. Germination occurs in about 7 to 10 days.
