Abundant harvest and exceptional taste

'Blue Lake FM1' climbing bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris), offered by OSC Seeds.

A reliable variety that offers heavy yields of dark green, 15 cm long, tender, fleshy, and stringless pods. Perfect for fresh eating or freezing. This early and productive variety is ideal for home gardeners looking for a tasty and easy-to-grow bean.

Plant height: 2-3 m
Harvest time: 55 days
Difficulty level: Easy
Frost tolerance: Killed by frost
Companion plants: Corn, squash, radishes
Negative plants: Onions, beets
Plant type: Annual vegetable

Cultivation method:

Climbing beans require support such as a trellis, fence, or teepee poles for their vertical growth. Sow directly in light, organic, well-drained soil after the soil temperature has reached at least 16°C.

Plant the seeds 2.5 cm deep and space them 8 to 10 cm apart in rows 45 to 60 cm apart. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially when flowers appear and pods begin to form. Avoid fertilizers high in nitrogen to prevent excessive foliage. Germination occurs in approximately 7 to 10 days.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock. These product pages are designed to help and inspire gardeners in choosing the right seeds for vegetable gardens, flower beds, pollinator gardens, container growing, naturalization projects and sustainable outdoor spaces.
