Broad beans are distinguished by their ability to germinate in cool soil, making them ideal for early spring planting, at the same time as peas. Sow the seeds directly at a depth of 5 cm, spaced 15-20 cm apart, in rows 45 cm apart.
Ensure the soil is rich, well-drained, and in full sun. Maintain consistent moisture, especially during seed filling. Provide light support if needed to prevent stems from bending under the weight of the pods. Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.
