Callirhoe ( Callirhoe digitata ), also known as 'fringed poppy mallow' or 'standing wine cup', offered by the seedsman Northern Wildflowers, is a native perennial remarkable for its cup-shaped magenta flowers.

Ideal for borders, native gardens and meadows, this hardy plant adds color and structure to outdoor spaces. Its finely lobed leaves resemble an open hand, providing a unique texture to the foliage.

Exposure : Full sun
Growth cycle : Perennial
Height : 1 to 4 feet (30 to 120 cm)
Growth Type : Hardy and drought tolerant
Packet Size : Approx 50 seeds
Heritage : Native plant ideal for ecological gardens

Cultivation method:

Sow Callirhoe seeds directly outdoors in fall or early spring in well-drained soil and full sun. For optimal germination, seeds require cold stratification for 6 to 8 weeks. Once established, this plant tolerates drought well and requires little maintenance. Plants are recommended to be spaced 12 to 18 inches apart to ensure adequate air circulation and healthy growth.

Its cupped magenta flowers bloom all summer, attracting bees and other pollinators, making it an excellent choice for promoting biodiversity in gardens and natural meadows.
