Caragana arborescens, also known as Siberian pea shrub or Siberian peashrub, is a large, very hardy shrub valued for its exceptional resistance to cold, drought, and poor soils. Its light green, fine, and airy compound foliage creates a wispy texture, contrasting with its abundant bright yellow flowers in spring. It then develops linear pods that ripen in summer. Its naturally upright to rounded habit, tolerance to harsh conditions, and vigor make it an excellent choice for windbreak hedges, defensive hedges, dry embankments, or rural areas. Very easy to cultivate, it grows quickly, even in extreme conditions, and remains a faithful ally for greening difficult sites in Quebec.
