A Versatile Heritage Variety

Copenhagen Market Cabbage (Brassica oleracea), offered by OSC Seeds

Introduced in 1909, this heritage short-season cabbage is known for its firm, round, top-quality heads. Each head weighs about 2 kg, measures 15 cm in diameter, and sits on a short stem. Its tender white flesh makes it ideal for sauerkraut and other culinary uses.

How to Grow:

Start seeds indoors in a soilless mix about 5 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 6 mm deep, maintaining a temperature of 20 °C for germination in 7–10 days. Grow seedlings at a slightly cooler temperature, then harden off and transplant outdoors by late May. Space plants 45 cm apart in rows, with 75 cm between rows.

Easy to grow, this variety delivers reliable results, making it ideal for small and large gardens alike.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock. These product pages are designed to help and inspire gardeners in choosing the right seeds for vegetable gardens, flower beds, pollinator gardens, container growing, naturalization projects and sustainable outdoor spaces.
