Common name

Type
TREE
Family
Betulaceae

Corylus colurna, also known as the Turkish hazel or Byzantine hazel, is a majestic tree perfectly suited for urban environments, recognized for its regular pyramidal habit, broad and dense foliage, and remarkable tolerance to pollution and drought. Its dark green foliage turns golden yellow in autumn, and at the end of the season, it produces edible fruits similar to hazelnuts, well-protected in a decorative husk. Unlike other hazelnut trees, it grows on a single trunk, forming a structuring shade tree, ideal for alignments, boulevards, or solitary plantings. Very hardy and undemanding, it adapts to a wide variety of well-drained soils and requires little maintenance once established.
