The Bishop's Crown , also called Bishop's Bonnet , is a pepper that is as beautiful as it is delicious. Native to Barbados , it is distinguished by its unique crown shape and mild to moderate heat (5,000 to 10,000 SHU) , perfect for those looking for an aromatic pepper without being too spicy. Its fruity and slightly sweet flavor , combined with its fine, crunchy flesh , make it a versatile ingredient in cooking.
At maturity, the plant can reach 48 inches (1.2 m) tall and produces an abundance of fruits (often more than 30 per plant) , which turn from pale green to bright red . Ideal for salads, salsas and sauces , it also lends itself very well to stuffed pepper recipes thanks to its original shape.

Cultivation method
- Sowing indoors: Sow seeds in early March , about 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost .
- Germination: It takes 5 to 12 days , at an ideal temperature between 25 and 30°C .
- Transplanting: When the seedlings have 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before acclimating them to the outdoors.
- Planting in the ground or in a pot: After the last frost, space the plants 40 to 50 cm apart in rich, well-drained soil. In pots, use a container at least 30 cm in diameter .
- Maintenance: Water regularly without soaking the soil, fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks with a balanced fertilizer and mulch to retain moisture.
- Harvest: About 90 to 120 days after sowing , the fruits take on their bright red hue and are ready to eat.
