Hot pepper 'Reaper Yellow' (Carolina Reaper Yellow - Capsicum chinense) , Offered by Les Gardiens - Ferme Alternative
The Yellow Reaper is a spectacular variation of the famous red Carolina Reaper , retaining its aggressive, knobby shape , while offering a vibrant yellow hue and a fruitier flavor. This pepper is a cross between the Ghost Pepper and the Yellow Habanero , giving it citrusy, tropical notes , while maintaining an extreme heat of over 1,500,000 SHU .
A quarter of a chili pepper is enough to set an entire dish on fire . It is perfect for ultra-hot sauces, powders and dehydrated flakes , allowing you to enjoy its power all year round. It stands out for its unique combination of intense heat and exotic flavor , making it a must-have for lovers of extreme chili peppers .
The vigorous and productive plant can reach up to 1.2 metres (4 feet) in height , producing a generous amount of fruit throughout the season.
Plant Height: Up to 1.2 meters (4 feet)
Spread: Medium
Quantity per bag: ISOLATED - 12 seeds
Scoville (SHU): + 1,500,000
Companion plants: Tomatoes, basil, garlic
Enemy plants: Fennel, beets
Cultivation method:
Sow seeds in early February , about 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost . Germination can take 10 to 20 days , but soaking the seeds for 12 to 24 hours before sowing can speed up the process. Capsicum chinense can sometimes take up to 6 weeks to germinate , so it is essential to maintain a steady temperature of between 25 and 30°C .
When the plants reach 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before acclimating them to the outdoors. In the ground or in a pot, choose a location with full sun , with rich, well-drained soil. Moderate watering and fertilization every 2 to 3 weeks will promote vigorous growth.
Harvesting begins about 120 to 140 days after sowing , when the fruits reach their bright yellow color , indicating full maturity. They can be eaten fresh, but lend themselves particularly well to dehydration , allowing them to be made into powders or flakes for extended use.
Pot culture: ideal for extending production
The Yellow Reaper grows very well in pots , allowing it to be brought indoors in the fall to prolong the harvest . A well-drained pot of at least 10 liters , a sunny exposure of 6 to 8 hours per day and regular fertilization will guarantee abundant production even in a restricted space .
Use and special features:
Its extreme intensity and citrus notes make it a popular ingredient for hot sauces, spicy marinades and powdered spice blends. Used with great care , it enhances dishes with explosive heat and a fruity touch .
?? Warning : This pepper is extremely potent . Wear gloves when handling and avoid contact with eyes and face.
