Hot pepper 'Scorpion Orange' (Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Orange - Capsicum chinense) , Offered by Les Gardiens - Ferme Alternative
Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Orange is a rare and sought-after variant of the famous Trinidad Scorpion Red . With its bright orange color , it brings a vibrant touch to the garden while maintaining an extreme heat of around 1,000,000 SHU . Less fiery than its predecessor, it compensates with a sweet and fruity flavor , offering a perfect balance between power and deliciousness .
Its round, bumpy fruits , which can reach more than 5 cm in diameter , ripen from light green to a magnificent bright orange . This pepper is a cross between the Trinidad Scorpion and the Congo Yellow , which gives it a formidable intensity coupled with a tropical touch .
Valued by extreme chilli lovers and keen growers alike , it is very productive and relatively easy to grow , whether in the ground or in pots.
Plant height: 80 cm to 1 meter
Spread: Medium
Quantity per bag: ISOLATED - 12 seeds
Scoville (SHU): ± 1,000,000
Companion plants: Tomatoes, basil, coriander
Enemy plants: Fennel, beets
Cultivation method:
Sow seeds in early February , about 10-12 weeks before the last frost . Germination usually takes 10-20 days , but can be accelerated by soaking the seeds for 12-24 hours before sowing . Like all Capsicum chinense, it can sometimes take up to 6 weeks to germinate , so patience and consistent warmth of 25-30°C are essential .
When the seedlings reach 4 to 6 true leaves , transplant them into larger pots before gradually acclimating them to the outdoors. Plant them in the ground or in a pot , in rich, well-drained soil , with full sun exposure .
Regular watering without excess and fertilization every 2 to 3 weeks will promote abundant production. Harvesting begins about 120 to 140 days after sowing , when the fruits reach their intense orange hue , a sign that they have reached full maturity.
Pot culture: ideal for extending the harvest
The Orange Scorpion is very well suited to growing in pots , allowing it to be brought indoors in the fall to continue production . A 10 to 15 liter pot, 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day and regular fertilization will guarantee a good harvest throughout the season .
Use and special features:
With its explosive heat and tropical aromas , this pepper is perfect for hot sauces, marinades and spicy salsas . It is also ideal dried and ground into powder for long-term storage. Its extreme intensity makes it a must-have choice for hot pepper lovers.
