Cultivation method
Sowing is done directly in open ground , as soon as the soil is workable in spring. For a continuous harvest, stagger sowing every two to three weeks until mid-summer .
This carrot appreciates well-loosened and drained soils , but it also tolerates slightly clayey soils . Moderate but regular watering prevents cracking of the roots and guarantees optimal flavor .
Harvesting and conservation
Harvest when the roots have reached their full yellow color and sweet flavor , usually after 70 days . They can be left in the ground for up to three weeks after maturation in summer and even longer in winter under a good mulch.
For best storage, place carrots in slightly damp sand in a cool place. They can also be frozen after blanching or used in fresh juices to take full advantage of their natural sweetness.
