The ‘Jack-O’-Lantern’ pumpkin develops vigorous, trailing vines, accompanied by large, dark green foliage that effectively protects the fruits during ripening. The pumpkins are oblong with a slightly flattened bottom, stable on the ground, with slight ribbing and a bright, vivid orange hue at maturity. The fruits generally reach 4 to 7 kg with a diameter of 20 to 25 cm, with thick, fine-grained flesh, yellow to orange in color.

Soak the seeds for 24 hours and scarify them to promote germination. Start indoors 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost, or sow directly in late May to early June when the soil reaches 25°C. For exhibition pumpkins, sow 2 to 3 seeds per hill spaced 15 to 20 cm apart; thin to keep only one plant 7 to 10 cm tall, and after the first pumpkin forms, remove additional flowers and fruits. 1″ in direct sowing, 21-35°C, 7 to 10 days (soaking and scarification recommended).

Ripe fruits have a rich color and a rind that is difficult to dent with a fingernail. Additionally, the color of the ground spot becomes more mature (yellow to cream, gold to orange).
