Farming method

Soak the seeds for a maximum of 24 hours in lukewarm water, then scarify to optimize germination.
Start sowing 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost. Transplant outdoors in late May–early June , when the soil temperature reaches 25°C .
Sow at a depth of 2.5 cm (1″) .

Space the plants 38–45 cm apart, with 60–90 cm between rows.
Grow in full sun (level 3) with moderate watering (level 2).
Germination in 7 to 10 days between 25 and 32 °C (optimum 27–35 °C).
Maturity: approximately 90 days , a rather early-maturing butternut squash.


Harvesting and preservation

Fruits are ripe when:
• The color is rich ,
• The skin is tough and resistant to nailing,
• the stain on the ground changes from yellow to cream or orange.

Cut, leaving 5 cm (2″) of stem to prevent rot.
Allow to ripen in a warm, dry place before storing.
Store at 10–12 °C , with 55–75% humidity , in a well-ventilated area.
