The 'Speckled Zebra' bean is a heritage variety derived from a selection of Little Brown Zebra , grown and improved directly on the farm for its diverse patterns . As the name suggests, approximately half the seeds display beautiful dark zebra stripes , while the other half are entirely black . Dwarf and compact, reaching only 35 cm (14″) , it adapts remarkably well to climatic variations: it slows or speeds up its growth depending on the weather, making it an excellent choice for novice gardeners . Productive, easy to grow, and consistent, it produces pods full of flavorful dried beans, perfect for cooking.

Farming method

To improve germination, soak the seeds for a maximum of 8 hours in lukewarm water (longer soaking damages them). Sow directly after the last frost , at a depth of 2.5–5 cm .
Space the plants 7 to 10 cm apart, with 30 cm between rows. Germination takes 8 to 10 days at 21 and 31 °C (optimum 26 °C).
Provide full sun exposure (level 3) and moderate watering (level 2). For continuous harvesting , sow every 3 weeks .


Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the pods and seeds are fully ripe and dry . Ensure good air circulation to allow the beans to dry completely at the end of the season.
Store only dry beans , away from moisture and light.
