Germination occurs in 7 to 10 days at temperatures between 5 and 20°C , with an optimum of 16–18°C (lettuce germinates poorly above 25°C). Plant in partial sun/semi-shade (level 2) with moderate watering (level 2). Space plants 15 cm apart, with 60 cm between rows.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest at all stages , although the best flavor develops after a few cool nights in autumn. To extend storage, store in sand in a root cellar at 1–2 °C .
