Farming method
Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil is workable . Cover the seeds with 1.25–2.5 cm of soil. Provide partial sun/partial shade (level 2) and moderate watering (level 2). Space plants 5–10 cm apart and rows 30–60 cm apart. Germination occurs in 5–10 days at temperatures between 2–23°C (optimum 15–21°C). Ruby colors are more pronounced in cooler conditions.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the leaves reach 7 cm , cutting 2.5 cm from the ground. The plant will regrow after several successive cuttings. Store in a cool place in sand in a root cellar at 1–2 °C .
