Organic 'Large Lavender' Poppy
Organic 'Large Lavender' poppy (Papaver somniferum) from Gaia seed company, an elegant poppy with lavender flowers and a prolonged flowering period.
The 'Large Lavender' poppy produces large, single flowers, 2 to 3 inches across, in soft lavender hues, borne on slender stems that bring lightness and refinement to the garden. Its long flowering period makes it a valuable addition to spring and summer borders. After blooming, it forms decorative seed pods , often used in dried arrangements. A heritage variety preserved and passed down by Jeanne Griffin, it self-seeds reliably year after year, offering a natural and graceful return. Highly attractive to pollinators, it brings movement, poetry, and texture to any flower display.
A delicate, generous and heritage poppy, perfect for adding a touch of lavender to the garden.

Sow seeds 3 mm deep, spacing plants 15 to 20 cm apart and rows 30 to 35 cm apart. Germination takes 14 to 21 days at 12–15 °C , with an optimum temperature of 12 °C. Place in full sun (level 3) and maintain minimal watering (level 1).
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest the freshly opened flowers if you wish to use them in bouquets, although they will not last long in a vase. The seed pods can be harvested and dried for floral arrangements. Allow a few flowers to go to seed to encourage self-seeding .
