Organic 'Czech Black' hot pepper
Organic 'Czech Black' hot pepper (Capsicum annuum) from the seed company Gaia, a glossy black pepper with a juicy sweetness and moderate heat
The 'Czech Black' pepper is a prized heirloom variety, valued for its initially glossy black fruits that ripen to a brilliant garnet . Its 2.5- to 3-inch conical peppers have sweet , juicy , and thick flesh, making them versatile in the kitchen—perfect for salsas, stuffing, grilling, or pickling. Their heat, slightly less intense than that of a jalapeño , is concentrated in the ribs and seeds, delivering a spiciness of 10,000 to 30,000 SHU . The variety is early-maturing, producing up to 20 fruits per plant , making it a reliable choice for both home gardens and container growing.
A chili pepper that is both decorative and culinary, which manages to be elegant… and just the right amount of spicy.

Harden off seedlings at 18–19°C before transplanting them outdoors in full sun (level 3). Water moderately (level 2). Space plants 30–45 cm apart and rows 60–75 cm apart. Consistent warmth promotes the development of the characteristic deep black color.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest the fruits when they reach their final color , glossy black or garnet depending on the desired stage of ripeness. Regular harvesting encourages continuous production . Store the peppers at 10-12°C and 95% humidity to maintain their firm texture.
