'Cascadia Snap' organic peas (Pisum sativum) from the seed company Gaia, a productive snap pea with thick and juicy pods

The 'Cascadia Snap' pea is a highly productive heirloom variety, producing thick , juicy , and crisp pods about 3 inches long. Prized for its sweet flavor and meaty texture, it produces continuously in spring or late summer when temperatures are cool. Its natural resistance to several diseases —Fusarium wilt, pea mosaic virus, and powdery mildew—makes it a reliable option for organic vegetable gardens. The compact plants develop uniform pods that become especially flavorful when picked at half their size , about a week after flowering.

Versatile, sweet and consistent in production, 'Cascadia Snap' stands out as a perfect snow pea for fresh kitchens and regular harvests.

Germination takes seven to twenty-one days at temperatures between 4 and 29°C , with optimal temperatures around 15°C . Sowing in late summer is possible for an autumn harvest. Provide partial sun/partial shade (level 2) and regular watering (level 2). This dwarf plant remains compact and does not require staking.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the peas are just beginning to form and continue until the pods reach about 7 cm in length. The pods are tastiest at half their original size , about a week after flowering. Store at 1-2°C for about a week.
