Organic 'Bizhiki' Tomato
Organic 'Bizhiki' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a uniform red, smooth, reliable tomato, perfect for both greenhouses and gardens
The 'Bizhiki' tomato is a heritage variety traditionally grown in greenhouses , where it excels in its uniformity and consistency. Indeterminate and vigorous, it produces perfectly round, bright red , globe-shaped fruits measuring 5 to 8 cm or more, remarkably resistant to cracking . This uniformity and the thinness of its skin make it an excellent market tomato, ideal for slicing, fresh salads, and continuous harvesting.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting . Bury the seeds at a depth of 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") in a light potting mix and maintain a temperature of 23–29 °C for germination in 5 to 10 days . Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce compact, sturdy seedlings.
Transplant after all risk of frost has passed. Leave 60 to 90 cm (24–36") between plants and 120 to 180 cm (4–6') between rows. Grow in full sun and water regularly ( level 3 ). Sturdy staking is necessary to support continuous production, especially in a greenhouse.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit is a uniform bright red and slightly soft. To advance the harvest, pick when the fruit shows its first blush , then let it ripen off the vine at 22°C or above . Store tomatoes at 12–21°C , below 95% relative humidity , to prolong their freshness.
