Organic 'Blush 2.0' Tomato
'Blush 2.0' organic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, an improved version of Blush: elongated, bright, productive and less prone to cracking
The 'Blush 2.0' tomato is a refined and improved version of the famous Blush variety, developed by the late breeder Fred Hempel . Indeterminate, vigorous, and remarkably productive, it yields abundant clusters of elongated, approximately 2-inch fruit , yellow-pink streaked with red, with juicy, sweet flesh that is slightly more acidic than the original. This extra touch of acidity enhances its flavor while retaining the characteristic tropical sweetness of the lineage.
These plants, slightly shorter and stockier than Blush, are nonetheless extremely productive , while also exhibiting increased resistance to cracking —a significant improvement for gardeners and market gardeners. Ideal for salads , snacking , and especially for preserving , as their elongated shape and dense texture are perfectly suited to jarred or roasted tomato recipes.
Adapted to large format containers , it requires serious staking , as its fine and airy vines tend to become very laden.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting out . Cover the seeds with 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") of light potting mix, at 23–29 °C for germination in 5 to 10 days . During acclimatization, reduce watering and nitrogen to strengthen the seedlings.
Transplant when the risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60 to 90 cm (24–36") apart, with 120 to 180 cm (4–6') between rows. Provide full sun , regular watering (level 3) , and sturdy staking , as the vines are long, slender, and heavily laden with fruit.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit displays its pink and yellow stripes , a sign of optimal ripeness. To advance the harvest, pick as soon as the first color appears, then allow to ripen off the vine at 22°C or higher . Store between 12–21°C , at 95% relative humidity , to maintain their juiciness.
