Organic 'Brandywine Cherry' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a small, early-maturing Brandywine variety that is juicy, dark pink, and boasts an exceptional flavor.

The 'Brandywine Cherry' tomato offers all the complex, rich, and inimitable charm of the Brandywine variety… but in a cherry version, and, most importantly , a month earlier than its legendary older sibling. Indeterminate and vigorous, with potato -like foliage, it produces cute , dark pink , round to slightly flattened fruits measuring 2.5 to 4.5 cm . Their flesh is juicy and vibrant, faithfully reproducing the aromatic depth, sweetness, and slight acidity that have made the Brandywine famous.

Its early ripening and medium plant size make it an ideal variety for gardeners wanting to enjoy the essence of Brandywine from the beginning of summer, without waiting for the long season typical of large beefsteaks. A little marvel with a refined character.

Farming method

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting out . Bury the seeds 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix, at 23–29 °C , for germination in 5 to 10 days . During the hardening-off period, reduce watering and nitrogen application to strengthen the seedlings.

Transplant outdoors once all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60 to 90 cm (24–36") apart with 120 to 180 cm (4–6') between rows. Provide full sun , regular watering (level 3) , and sturdy staking , as flowering is abundant.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the fruit turns a uniform deep pink and becomes slightly soft. To advance the season, pick fruit that has already begun to color , then let it ripen off the vine at 22°C or above . Store between 12–21°C , at 95% relative humidity , to preserve its juiciness.
