Organic 'Floragold Basket' Tomato
Organic 'Floragold Basket' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, an early, mini-dwarf variety, yellow-orange, with a surprisingly strong flavor
The 'Floragold Basket' tomato is an absolutely charming miniature heirloom variety, designed for gardeners with very small spaces. Mini dwarf and early-maturing , it forms a small, compact plant 6 to 8 inches (15–20 cm) tall , ideal for 6-inch pots or window boxes. Its regular, rough foliage supports a modest number of small, yellow fruits that turn orange , but each one compensates with a surprisingly strong, pronounced, and rich flavor —particularly remarkable for a yellow tomato, which is often associated with sweeter flavors.
Even though its yield is limited—understandable for such a small variety—it remains a fantastic choice for balconies, windowsills, miniature gardens, or for gardeners looking for a compact tomato without sacrificing flavor. A small tomato that surprises with its aromatic presence!

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting out . Sow 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix, at a temperature of 23–29 °C for germination in 5 to 10 days . Then reduce watering and nitrogen during the acclimatization period to strengthen the seedlings.
Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Plant in pots (minimum 6" ) or directly in the ground, spacing plants 30–45 cm (12–18") apart. Provide full sun (level 3) and regular watering (level 3) . Staking is rarely necessary due to the small size, but light support may be helpful during heavy fruiting.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit turns from yellow to orange , a sign of optimal flavor. To get a head start, pick the fruit showing its first signs of color , then let it finish ripening off the vine at 22°C or higher . Store at 12–21°C , under 95% relative humidity .
