Organic 'Midnight Sun' Tomato
Organic 'Midnight Sun' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from seed producer Gaia, a luminous Canadian creation with varied shapes and enchanting pink bursts
The 'Midnight Sun' tomato is a recent and remarkable variety from the True North project by Canadian breeder Karen Olivier . A cross between Ludmilla Pink Heart and Captain Lucky , this indeterminate variety is distinguished by its range of shapes —round, heart-shaped, or teardrop-shaped—as well as its sunny yellow color punctuated with pink highlights , as if each fruit had been hand-painted. Its fruity, sweet, and vibrant flavor is reminiscent of the best modern bicolor tomatoes, offering an experience that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.

Farming method
Sow indoors in March/April , 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost . Sow 5 mm (1/4") deep in a light, humus-rich potting mix. Maintain a temperature of around 25°C for germination in 7 to 15 days . Harden off the seedlings for 10 days before transplanting.
Transplant outdoors after the last frost, spacing the plants 60 to 70 cm apart, with 1 m between rows. Provide full sun , light, loose and rich soil, and sturdy staking , essential for supporting its dense foliage and vigorous production.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest between 75 and 80 days after transplanting, when the fruit shows its bright yellow color enhanced with pink. To bring forward the harvest, pick those that have already shown their first color , then let them ripen off the vine at 22°C or higher . Store between 12 and 21°C , in 95% relative humidity, to preserve their fruity sweetness.
