Organic 'Reisetomate' Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) – A unique tomato to share, with a tangy and intense taste

The 'Reisetomate' tomato is a fascinating heirloom variety, recognizable by its segmented appearance that gives the impression of several tomatoes merged into one. Its name, meaning 'traveling tomato' , comes from its ability to be torn into pieces without a knife, perfect for snacking on the go. Its flavor is strong, both sour and tangy , offering a unique eating experience. This indeterminate tomato produces large, irregular fruits and is grown with stakes to support its vigorous growth.

Spread: Vigorous growth, requires staking
Plant height: Indeterminate (can exceed 2 m)
Quantity per pack: ± 20 seeds
Companion plants: Basil, parsley, carrot, asparagus, alliums, celery, borage, marigold, calendula, mint, sage, peppers, dill (until maturity)
Enemy plants: Potato, corn, kohlrabi, beetroot, fennel, peas, squash

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Plant 3-6 mm (1/8-1/4") deep, spacing plants 60-90 cm (24-36") apart and rows 120-180 cm (4-6'). Maintain a germination temperature of 23-29°C (73-85°F) for rapid emergence in 5-10 days. Reduce watering and nitrogen when hardening off before transplanting. This indeterminate variety requires good staking to support its heavy fruit.

Harvest and uses:

Harvest when the tomato is fully ripe for optimal flavor, or as soon as the first color appears and allow to ripen off the vine at 22°C or above. Its unique structure makes it easy to share without a knife, ideal for outdoor snacks. Store the fruit between 12 and 21°C with a relative humidity of 95% for best preservation.

Why choose it?

With its spectacular appearance and intense flavor, the 'Reisetomate' tomato is perfect for lovers of original and rustic varieties. It brings a touch of authenticity to the vegetable garden and is a guaranteed conversation piece during harvest time!
