Farming method
Stratification is necessary for two weeks to ensure good germination. Sow indoors 10 to 12 weeks before planting outdoors, at a depth of 6 mm (1/4"). Keep the seeds in complete darkness until germination, usually in 10 to 14 days. Maintain a temperature between 18 and 25 °C (optimal 21 °C).
Transplant outdoors when cooler temperatures return. Space plants 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inches) apart and rows 30 to 35 cm (12 to 14 inches) apart. Provide a very sunny or partially shaded location (sun level 3) and well-drained soil. Water moderately (level 2). Maturity is reached in 60 to 80 days, depending on conditions.
Harvesting and use
The flowers and leaves are edible and can be harvested as needed to garnish salads, cakes, cocktails, or culinary decorations. Fresh flowers retain their appearance well as a garnish and add a refined floral touch to dishes.
