Farming method

Sow the seeds indoors 4 weeks before the last frost, at a depth of 3 mm (1/8"). Germination occurs in 3 to 5 days under good conditions, but can take up to 24 days. Transplant gently only when the true leaves have emerged, avoiding excessive handling of the roots.

Transplant outdoors once all risk of frost has passed, choosing a very sunny location (level 3). Space plants 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 inches) apart and rows 60 to 90 cm (24 to 36 inches) apart. Water moderately (watering level 2) and ensure well-drained soil. This variety reaches maturity in 80 to 90 days, under optimal temperatures around 23°C.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest the flowers before they fully open for better vase life. 'Oklahoma Salmon' zinnias have remarkable longevity in bouquets, thanks to their sturdy stems and dense petals. They are also edible and can be used to decorate dishes and desserts.
