The 'Long Red Cayenne' pepper is a must-have for spicy food lovers and for home gardens or greenhouses. It grows best in warm soil, between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and requires moderate moisture to germinate effectively. For best results, sow seeds ¼ inch deep, about 8 weeks before the last frost, and transplant into 4-inch pots when the first true leaves appear. After the last frost, you can transplant your seedlings 12 to 18 inches apart, with row spacing of 24 to 36 inches.
'Long Red Cayenne' pepper plants benefit from watering with a high phosphorus solution when first planted to encourage healthy growth. These peppers are high yielders whether you harvest the green or red fruits, making them a perfect addition to your spicy dishes or home preserves.
A spicy variety to grow and enjoy all year round!
