Product Description +

The Japanese climbing cucumber ( Cucumis sativus ), offered by the seed company Northern Wildflowers, is a variation prized for its crisp, slightly tart fruit.

Its ability to climb up to 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet) makes it an excellent choice for small gardens and vertical spaces. With a ripening period of about 58 to 65 days, it offers fresh-tasting green fruits, ideal for pickles and salads.

Spread: 30 cm between plants
Plant height: 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet)
Quantity per pack: Approximately 20 to 30 grains
Companion Plants: Corn, Peas, Dill
Enemies of Plants: Potatoes, strong aromatic herbs

Growing Tips:

Sow direct in the ground when soil temperatures are at least 60°F (16°C), or start seedlings indoors 2-3 weeks before planting out. Use a trellis or vertical support to encourage upward growth and save space. Plant in rich, well-drained soil in full sun, with regular watering for a bitter taste. Harvest fruits when they are 6-8 inches (15-20cm) tall for best results.

Japanese climbing cucumber is perfect for lovers of homemade pickles and fresh salads, with a crisp texture and a hint of tartness in every bite. A great option to add height and flavor to your vegetable garden!
