Sow seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Use a peat moss-based mix for best germination at a temperature of 21-24°C. When seedlings are 4cm, prick out into individual pots and lower the temperature to 15-18°C. Harden them off before transplanting into the ground in late May, spacing 90cm apart.
Tomatoes require regular watering at the base and staking to support their vigorous growth. Apply mulch to preserve moisture and rotate crops annually to prevent disease.
