Ligustrum amurense, also known as the Amur privet, is a very robust deciduous shrub renowned for its great hardiness and its ability to form dense and durable hedges. This vigorous species develops a dense, rounded habit with medium green foliage composed of small oval leaves that abundantly cover the branches. In early summer, the shrub produces large panicles of small, slightly fragrant, creamy-white flowers that attract many pollinators. After flowering, small purplish-black berries appear and often persist until autumn, providing a food source for birds. Highly tolerant, this privet adapts to a wide variety of soils and tolerates regular pruning well, making it an excellent choice for structured hedges, plant screens, or urban plantings.
