Lonicera nitida 'Thunderbolt', also known as 'Thunderbolt' bush honeysuckle, is an evergreen shrub highly valued for its bright foliage and great versatility in the garden. This variety forms a dense, rounded bush with fine, light green to golden yellow foliage that brightens borders, low hedges, and flowerbeds. Its small, oval leaves, tightly packed on the branches, create a compact texture reminiscent of boxwood, making it an excellent alternative for structured hedges or topiary. Although its flowering is discreet, small whitish flowers appear in spring and are sometimes followed by decorative small purple berries. Very hardy and easy to maintain, this shrub tolerates pruning, ordinary soils, and urban conditions well, while preferring sunny to semi-shady locations.
