Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler'
Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler', also known as 'Major Wheeler' honeysuckle, is a highly prized deciduous ornamental vine known for its spectacular flowering and ability to attract hummingbirds. This vigorous variety produces long, flexible stems that easily twine around trellises, pergolas, or fences. Throughout the summer, it is covered in an abundance of scarlet red tubular flowers clustered together, contrasting beautifully with the bluish-green foliage. Unlike many honeysuckles, this species is not very invasive and offers prolonged flowering that is particularly attractive to pollinators. After flowering, small decorative red berries appear, attracting birds. Very hardy and easy to cultivate, this plant adapts to various well-drained soils and prefers full sun locations to maximize flowering.
