Malus domestica 'Jonagold' is an apple variety derived from the cross between 'Jonathan' and 'Golden Delicious', combining the sweetness and firmness of both parents. It produces large apples with golden yellow skin widely streaked with red, and juicy, crisp, creamy yellow flesh with a very balanced sweet and tart flavor. These fruits are excellent for fresh eating, salads, juices, pies, and baking. The 'Jonagold' apple tree is partially self-fertile, but its production is significantly improved in the presence of another compatible variety. Its spring blossom is abundant and decorative, and the tree offers good productivity in sunny conditions and on well-drained soil. Renowned for the superior quality of its apples, 'Jonagold' is a preferred choice in home and commercial orchards.
