Apple Tree 'Parkland'
Malus domestica 'Parkland' is an ultra-hardy apple tree, specially developed for northern regions like Quebec, where it thrives easily as far north as Zone 2. It produces small to medium-sized apples (6–7 cm) from late August, which are greenish-yellow with a red blush. Their flesh is crisp, juicy, and very flavorful, with a well-balanced tart taste. Excellent for fresh eating, the 'Parkland' apple is also well-suited for canning, although its texture softens with storage beyond 8 weeks. Its rounded and moderate habit (4–5 m high, 9 m wide) makes it a remarkable tree for residential orchards, edible gardens, or sunny plantings, where it offers white to pinkish blossoms in May. Easy to grow in full sun and well-drained soil, this cultivar combines productivity, robustness, and taste quality in cold climates.
