Makamik Crabapple
Malus 'Makamik' is a hardy and vigorous ornamental apple tree, highly prized for its spectacular spring bloom of dark pink buds opening into pale pink flowers, creating a striking contrast with the purple foliage. It then develops an abundant fruiting of small, glossy red fruits, persisting late into winter and very attractive to birds. Its rounded and dense habit, combined with good disease resistance, makes it an excellent choice for solitary plantings, informal hedges, or ornamental orchards. The foliage turns coppery in autumn, extending its visual appeal. Adapted to well-drained soils and preferring full sun, 'Makamik' combines flowering interest, structural density, and low maintenance to enrich any garden composition.
