This tried-and-tested pickling cucumber variety produces firm, crisp, dark green, cylindrical fruits covered in small black spines. The cucumbers reach approximately 15 cm in length and offer flavorful flesh ideal for homemade pickles. Planting and maintenance:
Sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed up and all risk of frost has passed, ideally between 15 and 35°C. Unroll the seed tape into shallow furrows approximately 13 mm deep, space the rows about 1.2 m apart, and then lightly cover with soil. Maintain consistent moisture throughout germination, as the seed tapes must never dry out. Water regularly throughout the season, avoiding wetting the foliage, and harvest the young fruit frequently to encourage continuous production. The plants can be trained on a trellis to keep the fruit clean and improve air circulation.
