Farming method

Start sowing indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost . Sow the seeds approximately 6 mm deep in a light, well-draining potting mix. Maintain consistent moisture and a temperature of 21 to 24 °C to encourage even germination, usually within 7 to 14 days .

Once all risk of frost has passed and the soil temperature has reached at least 15°C , gradually harden off the seedlings and then transplant them into open ground in a sunny location (level 3) , sheltered from strong winds. Space the plants 60 to 90 cm apart, with rows spaced approximately 90 cm apart.

Being an indeterminate variety, the 'Yellow Pear' tomato requires sturdy support (stake, cage, or trellis). Regular watering, equivalent to 2.5 to 5 cm of water per week , is essential to maintain healthy growth and continuous production.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvesting begins approximately 70 to 80 days after transplanting . Pick the fruit when it is bright yellow and slightly soft to the touch. Frequent harvesting encourages the production of new fruit throughout the season.

Tomatoes can be kept for a few days at room temperature and are best eaten fresh , without refrigeration.
