Spaghetti squash ( Cucurbita pepo ), offered by Northern Wildflowers, is a unique summer squash, prized for its flesh that turns into spaghetti-like strands when cooked.

Maturing in 90 to 100 days, this climbing variety can reach between 1 and 2 meters (3 to 6 feet). Its mild flavor and stringy texture make it a healthy and original alternative to classic pasta.

Exposure : Full sun
Growth cycle : 90 to 100 days to maturity
Height : 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet)
Growth Type : Climbing
Packet Size : Approx 20-30 seeds
Heritage : Versatile squash for healthy recipes

Cultivation method:

Spaghetti squash prefers well-drained soil, rich in organic matter, and full sun exposure. Sow seeds directly in the ground after the last frost or start them indoors 2 to 3 weeks before transplanting. Plant seeds 2 cm deep and space them 45 to 60 cm apart, with at least 1 m between rows to allow the vines to spread. Water regularly, especially during flowering and fruit formation, to promote good growth.

It combines well with companion plants such as corn, beans and nasturtium, but should be kept away from potatoes and other cucurbits to avoid disease.

This fun and versatile squash is perfect for healthy pasta dishes, soups or stews. Add Spaghetti Squash to your vegetable garden for a nutritious and delicious alternative to traditional pasta.
