Fresh annual herb, aromatic and indispensable in cooking and preservation

Dill ( Anethum graveolens ), offered by OSC Seeds

Dill is an essential annual herb for flavoring pickles , vinegars , fish dishes , salads, vegetables, and egg recipes. The Mammoth variety forms tall, elegant plants, 60 to 75 cm , with finely cut, highly aromatic foliage . Easy to grow and often self-seeds , it also attracts many beneficial insects such as ladybugs, lacewings, hoverflies, and parasitic wasps, naturally improving the health of the garden.

Propagation: Direct sowing
Plant height: 60–75 cm
Package size: Approximately 500 seeds
Harvest time: 40–60 days
Frost tolerance: Low (annual)
Companion plants: Cucumbers, carrots, lettuce
Incompatible plants: Caraway, fennel (risk of hybridization)
Type: Aromatic annual

Planting and maintenance:
Sow directly in full sun in light, loose, well-drained soil. Cover the seeds very lightly, as they need light to germinate well. Thin to 20–25 cm apart once the seedlings are established. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging. Allow some umbels to go to seed if you wish to encourage natural self-seeding. Harvest the young leaves for optimal flavor, or harvest the mature seeds for preserving.

The availability of our seeds varies depending on seasonal availability, production schedules and supplier inventory. Certain varieties may only be offered for a limited time based on their natural growth cycle, sowing period or available stock. These product pages are designed to help and inspire gardeners in choosing the right seeds for vegetable gardens, flower beds, pollinator gardens, container growing, naturalization projects and sustainable outdoor spaces.
